Soft Pretzels / Pretzel Dogs

This is a great, easy meal that is sure to please the pickiest of eaters.
1 c. Warm Water
1 T. Yeast (or 1 pkg.)
2 ¾ c. Flour ½ t. Salt (regular)
1 T. Sugar
2 T. Margarine

1 Egg Yolk
1 T. Water
½ t. Kosher Salt (To sprinkle on before baking)

Combine warm water and yeast in a medium glass bowl and let it set 5 minutes. In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients. (Flour, regular salt, & sugar). Now cut up the margarine into the yeast mixture. While the yeast is sitting mix the egg yolk and 1 T. of water in a tiny bowl and set it aside. Pour the yeast mixture into a well in the dry ingredients. (Margarine may not be melted yet, it’s ok.) Stir the flour off of the sides of the well into the yeast mixture until it is all in. Knead 3 minutes. Let dough rest for 10 minutes then form pretzels. Place on greased cookie sheet. Brush with egg yolk mixture. (Use a pastry brush.) Sprinkle with kosher salt. Bake at 475* for 12 minutes. Dip in Pizza Sauce

Variation: Wrap around uncooked hot dogs and brush with egg yolk then sprinkle with salt or Leave off egg yolk & Cook. Rub with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar – or – powdered sugar.
